Happy Valentine’s Day???

Every February 14th most of us anticipate receiving roses, chocolate candy, balloons, romantic dinners or jewelry. A day that’s designated to show love beyond measures. A day that "I Love You" is seen or said probably more times than any other day of the year.

Valentine’s Day is a day you either love or hate.  Those who are in relationships will expect to feel special, wanting to receive all kind of gestures of love. They’re excited to be showered with gifts... you know, the special deliveries at the office or the perfectly wrapped small box sitting on the nightstand. But if you are alone or going through a rough patch romantically, Valentine’s Day can bring out the Grinch in you lol. Just not feeling all the mushy stuff the day is suppose to represent. Then you have a fair percentage that could care less about the anticipated “Love” day.  It’s just another day to mark off on the calendar. Hmmm, what will today mean to you?

Regardless if you’re single or in a relationship, don’t focus too much on one day to show love. There’s 364 other days to make someone or yourself feel special. Sometimes we get so caught up in the advertisement of Valentine’s Day we lose sight of the “just because” days. The best gifts are the ones you least expect. It’s the mere fact that someone is thinking of you on any given day. These are the times to realize those daisies smell just as good as roses, dinner at home can be more intimate than your favorite restaurant and a handwritten letter can be more meaningful than a hallmark card.  Gestures of love come in many forms. However you choose to exhibit is up to you, but it just shouldn’t be Valentine’s Day.

“But love, I’ve come to understand, is more than three words mumbled before bedtime. Love is sustained by action, a pattern of devotion in the things we do for each other everyday.”

-Nicholas Sparks
